The Brothers of Pi Kappa Alpha, in partnership with the Stockton Fire Department (IAFF Local #456), are pleased to announce our inaugural Fireman’s Challenge competition benefiting the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Fireman’s challenge is a competitive philanthropic event created to benefit the Shriners Hospital for Children and support our local Stockton Fire Department. Throughout this week multiple organizations on Pacific’s campus will compete in events ranging from a relay race to a dessert judging competition, concluding with our closing ceremony on October 4th, followed by our Fireman’s Ball.
There will be events and fundraising opportunities that will raise money for the Shriners Hospital for Children Burn Unit. Teams will participate in a vast variety of games and activities that will test their “firefighting abilities.” Each competition will be assigned a point value, and points will be accumulated and totaled over the week. Points will be awarded based on competition outcomes and member participation in events. The event is over a weeklong time period and culminates on Thursday with our Fireman’s Ball.
The Shriners Hospital for Children is dedicated to providing the highest quality care to children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries and other special healthcare needs within a compassionate, family-centered and collaborative care environment. They provide for the education of physicians and other healthcare professionals and conduct research to discover new knowledge that improves the quality of care and quality of life of children and families. Specifically, the Shriners Hospitals for Children of Northern California is an 80-bed orthopedic, burn and spinal cord injury rehabilitation hospital. They utilize a family-centered approach to care designed to support the whole family during acute and reconstructive phases of a child’s injury. Located in Sacramento, their hospital treats children from all over the country and around the world, and has unique relationships with some of the top hospitals and universities in the world.
Pi Kappa Alpha has always been a generous supporter of the greater Stockton community. The men of Pi Kappa Alpha strive to improve the community through effective philanthropy and public service events. Past experience includes funds for the local food bank while raising awareness about the effects of homelessness.
Please help us make this event a memorable and successful one. Hopefully, together with your support, we can continue this event that will help unite the Stockton community and raise funds for a worthy cause. I am looking forward to seeing the turnout at this year’s event.
Thank you for the support and good luck!
